What is Hexenwasser?

Keep a stone underneath a waterdrop and one day the sun will shine through the hole.
Our Hexenwasser team will look after you every day, come rain or shine. We’ll show you where’s best to go, stop, and look. We’ll have you listening and watching without aim, we’ll have you thinking on your bare feet.

HEXENWASSER EXPERIENCES

The theatre of busy bees!

See a real monarchy at Hexenwasser – at the apiary! Marvel at the busy bees buzzing around the hive entrances, find the guardian bee and queen bee in the display hive and listen to our staff at Hexenwasser explain how honey comes to be on your bread and why bees play a critical role in nature’s cycle.

Diese Sation ist betreut – d.h. hier ist für Euch jemand mit dabei, der all Eure Fragen beantworten kann!

Enter our giant walk-in cherry, where we will show you how the wonder works – how a rock-hard cherry stone grows into the delicate twig of a cherry tree.
With a cherry stone and short instruction you will be able to carry some of the Hexenwasser magic out into the world.

Find out all about the life of a forester as you enjoy homemade forester’s mush or witch’s tea.

Thinking on bare feet

Lift it, carry it, put it back down…
… What is this all about? How about you?

To start with, you’ll be taking your shoes and socks off at the Tyrolean shoe museum. Your feet relieved of their everyday armour, you’re forced to use your soles and toes to keep your footing on sand, stones, woods, forest and meadow land … walk into a stream and experience the coolness of the water next to the skin of your feet. Walking barefoot on a journey of discovery, a journey through your own body.

Here you can try water treading – a method of treatment by Sebastian Kneipp. You will walk through freezing water and feel the stimulating effect.

The Source

Dive into the secrets and mysteries of water! Whether at the current table or whirlpool, reconstructing a watercourse or studying the drops and sand structures formed by water… – prepare to be amazed!

The word wonder already tells us what it’s about. The origin of the word wonder is German “wundern“, which comes from the verbs to weave, turn, confuse and interlace. A wonder is unfathomable and ungrounded. (Source: Etymology Dictionary)

The Blue Wonder, is an attempt to trace the “source of life” in a fun way. We often take water for granted in everyday life, but in the Blaues Wunder we reveal its peculiarities.

It’s even better when it’s raining, windy and foggy. Because when the weather is grey, the surprise and the shift seem even bluer when you enter the Blue Wonder.

Our Hexenwasser team will look after you every day, come rain or shine. Choose one of the following stations:

With this new installation, Hexenwasser and its visitors engage in an exploratory and experimental journey, the course of which cannot be foreseen. The “Blaues Wunder”, or Blue Wonder, is an attempt to trace the “source of life” in a fun way. We often take water for granted in everyday life, but in the Blaues Wunder we reveal its peculiarities – prepare to be amazed!

Whether at the current table or whirlpool, reconstructing a watercourse or studying the drops and sand structures formed by water.

Find out how those busy bees make honey from light and why it’s dark in the hive. Observe the waggle dance – a dance bees make to tell other bees where they have found lots of flowers.

We have copied and built a beehive for you to experience the bee’s life in the dark. They are able to see even if it is dark like in a beehive! When you are visiting this beehive you will notice that you are automatically using all your other senses, like smelling, hearing, touching and tasting to get some orientation in the darkness.

An assistant will explain the work and instruments of a beekeeper. You can dance the waggle dance or make candles out of beeswax.

Who had thought that a stone is only a stone, has not yet heard a stone singing! Listen to the concert of melodious stones – knocking stones. On our Phonolitesfield you can make rythms and melodies with phonolites and pounders.

Walking the barefoot trail towards the stone mill is a must. At the stone mill you will see how to drag stones, make them round and smooth and how they will turn into gemstones which, if hold into water, shine in any shade of color.

Or you can experiment with your own voice and try to find “your tone”. You will hear the sound of stone cast in stone. You’ll hear yourself as if from outside.

Drop by at Simonalm, travel 400 years in the past and experience the ancient traditions and customs of the Alpine pastures.
Gazing into Simon Alm, munching and enjoying broda donuts.

Our cook, farmer and singer will let you help her cooking with the herbs and vegetables from her garden. She will show you how this work was done 400 years ago without modern instruments.

Water in vibration, overcoming the force of gravity, jumping upwards, throwing shapes and patterns onto the surface and creating sound.

How does water get up the mountain? Visit the witch’s ladder and our competent team will show you this and other miracles of nature in a playfull way. Our team knows how to enchant by playing the water sound bowls and performing a beautiful concert of water drops.

Let our team explain you the annual rings of a tree. How old is the tree? What tree species grow in the witch’s forest?

Find out all about the life of a forester as you enjoy homemade forester’s mush or witch’s tea.

The story of fire brought to life at the witch’s fireplace – and the delicious art of bread making from grain, water, salt and spices.

Let the witches teach you how to make bread on a stick.

In a clearing in the witch’s forest you will find a roofed fireplace. There the story of fire is told. How do we make fire? How was it made in ancient days and how is it made today? Also the story of bread is told. You will learn how to mill grain and knead and bake delicious bread only with water, salt and herbs.

For making a good cup of witch’s tea you will go on a search for herbs.

At the summit of the Hohe Salve, an ancient place of ritual and for observing the skies, you begin to feel what “time” really means. Through many small experiments you can discover the secrets of the sun, wind and weather and see how time flows and wind sings.

Observations of the zenith angle of the sun form the basis for today’s mathematics. But it all started very simple- learn how to build your own sundial!

One highlight definitely is playing the wind harp…

Can your feet see? You don’t think so? On the barefoot trail you will get to know yourself a bit better. Experience all your senses and learn to see with bare feet.

Use your soles and toes to keep your footing on sand, stones, woods, forest and meadow land … walk into a stream and feel the coolness of the water next to the skin of your feet. Walking barefoot on a journey of discovery, a journey through your own body.

An assistant will walk the barefoot trail with you.

FOR CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

A witch or wizard explores Hexenwasser’s secrets with the kids and makes the children’s birthday party an unforgettable adventure.

Choose among the three options mentioned below:

Off we go via the water chime to discover the witch’s ladder, where we learn how water can flow uphill.

Then we balance in different variations over the ant tree trunk and get a taste of what it feels like to be an ant.

After making a creative work of natural art, we pick a few witch’s herbs and build up our strength with some bread-on-a-stick (tea or herbal soup). Revived and fit we return to the cauldron, where a gift is waiting for the birthday child.

We walk along the barefoot path (without shoes, of course) to the apiary to discover what it’s like to be a bee. Here, each child can make a beeswax candle. We continue on through the water to the singing stones, where we can experiment and make music with various types of stones.

As we continue on our walk to the witch’s stone mill, where we encounter some magic, we have to cross the mud troughs and rock oil pools. Then we can cook some of the food we have brought with us on our barbecue.

Before heading home, we mustn’t forget to pick up the birthday present from the cauldron!

We invite you to celebrate your birthday with your friends with fine tradition at Simonalm. In familiar atmosphere and with skillful help you can prepare your own broda donuts on a wooden stove. While munching and enjoying broda donuts elderjuice and milk are served.

Rate: total €130.– for 10 children + 2 adults; at least 10 participants, each additional person: adult à € 17,00 / child à € 12,00,– (gondola ride included)

Registration: 1 week in advance
